Harry Scoggins

     1930 - 2015
          Mass of Christian Burial for Harry Scoggins, age 84 of Muenster are set for 10:00 AM, Friday, April 24, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the funeral home in Muenster. Mr. Scoggins died Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
     Harry L. Scoggins was born in Eastland, Texas on June 24, 1930 to Walter L. and Nettie (Webster) Scoggins as the only son of the four children. He grew up in Vernon until the family was transferred to Muenster in 1948. Harry served in the National Guard and later the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the service, he went to work in the oil field until he later began working for AMPI. In 1992, Harry retired from full time work but continued working part time until 1997.
     On May 29, 1953, Harry married Anna Grace “Snooks” Herr. They became the proud parents of two children, Bobby and Vicki. Snooks died in May 1986 after a lengthy illness. Harry married Harriet Otto Pagel on February 20, 1987.
Harry enjoyed running, even running in seven triathlons. He came in third place in his age division in the German Fun Run of 1988. Harry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He and Harriet enjoyed square dancing, going to the lake and traveling in the motor home.
     Harry is survived by: his wife, Harriet Otto Pagel Scoggins of Muenster; daughter: Vicki Lynn Scoggins and Jay Evans of Gordonville, Texas; sons: Bobby Scoggins and Doris of Myra, Texas, Darrell Pagel and Nancy of Muenster, Carl Pagel and Abbey of San Jacinto, California, and Curtis Pagel and Rhonda of Muenster; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and his sister, Juanita Rogers of Pampa, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. and Nettie (Webster) Scoggins, wife, Anna Grace “Snooks” Herr Scoggins, and sisters, Ganelle Barrier and Yvonne Hanza.
     Pallbearers were: Tyler Pagel, Willie Scoggins, Jeremy Scoggins, Chris Shurbert, Fred Gugliemelli, Lenny Haverkamp, Mike Blankenship, and Harold Flusche.

Arnold "J Bird" Barnes

     1936 - 2015

     Arnold J. Barnes, known as “J Bird” was a wonderful husband, father, Paw Paw and friend. He was born in Sunset, Texas on November 22, 1936 to Vernon and Dorothy (Arnold) Barnes. J worked at the Fort Worth Stock Yards for many years. He worked at the Arlington Plant General Motors for 28 years and retired in 1992. He loved to fish in Port Aransas and hunt deer in Colorado. He was a farmer, growing watermelons and loved his ranch, where he raised cattle, and fed wild turkey and deer. J was a Christian and was baptized at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He left us to go live with his sweet Jesus on April 6, 2015 at the age of 78.
     J Bird is survived by: his wife, Margaret Barnes of Saint Jo; daughters: Deborah and husband, Dale Kuykendall of Decatur and Sherri Clayton and husband, Tom Nolte of Keller; sons: Rickey Jay Barnes of Azle and Troy and wife, Shannon Grant of Richardson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Genell and husband, Gorden Wade of Forestburg, Ann and husband, Wayne Jackson of Alvord, and Mary and husband, Jerry McKeever of Chico; and his brother Don and wife, Robin Barnes of Sunset. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Dorothy (Arnold) Barnes, his first wife, Charlene Wade Barnes, and his brother, Edgar Barnes.
     Pallbearers were: Brad Barnes, Landon Kuykendall, Jeff McKeever, Johnny McKeever, David Jackson, Heath Barnes, Jason Barnes, and Jerry Dunaway.
     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Alvord with Rev. Bill Cleveland and Rev. Charles Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sunset, TX under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A visitation will be held from Thursday, 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Saint Jo.

Rosalie Cox

     1920 - 2015

     Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalie Margaret (Schmitz) Cox, age 94 of Muenster, was held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with Father Ken Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil was held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Ms. Cox died Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Gainesville, Texas.
     Born to John and Mary (Bezner) Schmitz on March 11, 1920, Rosalie was one eight children.
     Rosalie is survived by: sister, Marcy and husband, Ray Wilde of Muenster, brother Lee Roy Schmitz of Valley View, sister-in-law, Jennie Schmitz of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Bezner) Schmitz; brothers: Leonard Schmitz, Freddy and wife, Oleta Schmitz, Johnny Schmitz; sisters: Gertie and husband, Al, Horn and Sally and husband, Butch, Thimer.
     Pallbearers were: Mike Schmitz, Bob Schmitz, Gregg Wilde, Dan Wilde, Joe Schmitz, and Kevin Schmitz.
