Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony Joseph Klement, age 92 of Muenster was
held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 10, 2013. The Rosary/Vigil service was at
6:00 PM Wednesday. All services were at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Muenster. Services were officiated by Rev. Ken Robinson and Rev. Kyle
Walterscheid and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Burial was in
Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Klement died early Monday morning on October 7, 2013
in the house where he was born and raised. Tony was surrounded by his wife of
70 years and his 14 children.
Born June 13, 1921 in Muenster, Anthony “Tony” was the eldest of the 3 children of Frank and Margaret (Hartman) Klement. He attended Sacred Heart School and then the Subiaco Academy.
Tony enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942, and served until 1945. He married Isabel “Sis” Schmitz on August 19, 1943 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lindsay. They were stationed at Bucksport, South Carolina. He was discharged in October 1945, returned to Muenster where he began carpenter work for a local lumber yard.
Tony and Sis soon moved into the homeplace where they raised their 15 children. Tony then began farming along with his carpenter work. He and Sis have since continued to live on that farm.
After 40 years of carpentry, Tony became semi-retired in 1987. He then enjoyed cabinet making, dominoes, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Tony was a great family man. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and was a very good friend to all who knew him. He was always known to be one to help those in need. Tony will be greatly missed.
Tony is survived by his: wife, Isabel “Sis” Klement of Muenster; children and spouses: Patsy and Paul Dangelmayr of Muenster, Pat and Ruth Klement of Muenster, Robert Klement of Muenster, Joyce and Tom Bayer of Muenster, Janet and Willie Fisher of Muenster, Alice Walterscheid of Muenster, Roy and Carol Klement of Muenster, Steve and Dianna Klement of Muenster, Diane and Dave Muller of Muenster, Darlene and Don Abney of Saint Jo, Marlene and Giles Walterscheid of Moss Lake, Peachie and Neil Huchton of Muenster; Kevin Klement of Muenster, and Gary Don Klement and life partner Charles Cummings of Gainesville; forty-three grandchildren and eighty great grandchildren; sisters: Anna Marie Bayer of Muenster; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Harold and Clara Schmitz; sisters-in-law: Clara Klement, Katye Schmitz and Laveta Schmitz.
Tony was preceded in death by his: son: James Eugene Klement; parents: Frank and Margaret Hartman Klement; brother: Eugene Klement; granddaughter: Stephanie Nicole Huchton; son-in-law: Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Walterscheid, Sr.
Pallbearers were his grandsons: Mike Dangelmayr, Darren Klement, Bubba Klement, Coy Fisher, Kenneth Walterscheid, Ryan Klement, James Klement, Jason Huchton. Honorary pallbearers were all his other grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Blessed Pope John Paul II, University Parish, Denton, Texas.
