A funeral service for Jessie P. “J.P.”
Embry, age 94 of Saint Jo, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 13,
2014 at Forestburg Methodist Church in Forestburg with Rev. Chuck Jestis, Rev.
Veronica Greanead and Rev. Larry Kruger officiating. Burial will follow at Dye
Mound Cemetery in Saint Jo under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint
Jo. A visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2014 at the
funeral home in Saint Jo. Mr. Embry died in Gainesville on Wednesday, December
10, 2014.
One of three children, Jessie Parks “J.P.”
Embry was born on August 8, 1920 to Horace and Isora (Donnell) Embry in the
community of Freemound, Texas in Cooke County. J. P. lived and was very active
in the Dye Mound community since 1939 where he and his wife, Ora (Wade) Embry
raised their two children, Gayle and Dewey. J. P. attended the Dye Mound
Methodist Church until its closing and then became a member of the Forestburg
Methodist Church. He enjoyed visiting his neighbors and sharing his garden
produce and was very proud of his family. J. P. will be missed by his family
and all those who knew him.
J. P. is survived by his: daughter, Gayle
and husband, Charles Edwards of Forestburg, TX; daughter-in-law, Mary Embry of
Newark, TX; five grandchildren: Pam Brant, Veronica Greanead, Douglas Edwards,
Nelia Embry, and Josh Embry; eight great-grandchildren; his sisters and
spouses: Imogene and Oscar Garza of Mission, TX and Dessie and Nelson Berry of
Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora (Wade) Embry; son, Dewey
Embry; and his parents, Horace and Isora (Donnell) Embry. Pallbearers were:
Dudley Sparkman, George Baker, Wassie Reynolds, Carroll Dill, Don Farrell, and
Raymon Wood.
