Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Edward “Doodle” Wimmer, age 98 of
Muenster, was held 10:00 AM, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church of Muenster with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in
Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A
Rosary/Vigil was held 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Mr.
Wimmer died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his home in Muenster.
Born December 15, 1915 in Durant, Oklahoma, Charlie was the 5th of the 11 children of C.J. and Annie Seith Wimmer. At the age of 3, the family moved to Muenster. They settled 6 miles east of Muenster on a dairy farm. Charlie attended Sacred Heart School and helped with the farm work.
Charlie, in 1939, moved to West Texas where he worked on a farm and ranch. He then was drafted into the service where he served 4½ years in both the Pacific and European wars. He then returned to Muenster where he was employed by Cooke County Co-op. He worked there until retirement in 1981.
Charlie “Doodle” married Isabelle Neu on September 21, 1946. He then was transferred to Nocona as a serviceman for the Co-op. They were there for 18 months, then moved back to Muenster where they continued raising their family of 2 boys and 3 girls.
Charlie’s first wife, Isabelle, died on July 6, 1969. Five years later he married Helen Hess. She also predeceased him on July 3, 1979. He has since lived by himself in Muenster.
Charlie is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Sharlene and Duwayne Schilling of Muenster, Shari and David Sampson of Tyler, Sandra Wimmer and companion Norma Bayer of Muenster; sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Linda Wimmer of Muenster and Ricky Wimmer of Muenster; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; sisters: Lucille Zimmerer of Muenster, Billie Reinart of Muenster, and Gracie and Paul Luke of Farmers Branch; and sister-in-law Cecilia Wimmer of Muenster. He is preceded in death by: wives: Isabelle Neu and Helen Hess; sister: Hattie Berend; brothers: Tony, Andy, Jody, Lawrence, Johnny, and Ernest; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were: Joseph McCoy, Brad Schilling, Charlie Schilling, Daniel Wimmer, Ryan Hess, and Max Koesler.
The family requests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Trust.
