Henry Felderhoff

     Mass of Christian Burial for Henry A. Felderhoff, age 89 of Muenster was held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Rev. Ken Robinson officiated. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Services were directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Mr. Felderhoff died at 7:40 PM, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home in Muenster. Rosary and Vigil services were held at 7:00 PM Sunday at Sacred Heart.

     Henry was born on February 7, 1924 the sixth of twelve children of John and Helena Hesse Felderhoff. He grew up on the family farm north of Muenster and attended Muenster schools through the 10th grade when he went to work full-time on the family farm. He grew up speaking German at home, learning to speak English only when he went to school. He enjoyed greeting friends in German his whole life. Henry served in the US Army in 1948 to 1950 and in 1951 and in the reserves through 1956. He worked in the oil field for over fifty years, serving as Toolpusher for Felderhoff Brothers Drilling Company until his retirement in 1996.

     Henry married Betty Fleitman on June 17, 1952 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012. Together Henry and Betty raised six children, supporting them and their families in all of their activities. Henry enjoyed going to his children’s and grandchildren’s high school and college ball games. Until the end he always wanted to hold and play with his small great-grandchildren.

     Henry was an extremely hard worker who often said his work was a 24/7 week most of his life. He was a great husband and family man. His family, consisting of his wife and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed!

     Henry is survived by his: wife, Betty Felderhoff of Muenster; daughter and spouse: Doris and Ronnie Dennard of Decatur, TX; sons and spouses: Glenn and Linda Felderhoff of Graham, TX, David and Barbie Felderhoff of Muenster, TX, Floyd and Marcy Felderhoff of Montgomery, TX, Kevin and Linda Felderhoff of Gainesville, TX, and Craig Felderhoff of Houston, TX; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters and spouses: Rita Tucker of Wichita Falls, TX, Emma and Monty Elliot of Lincoln, TX, Philomena “Phil” and John Ladd of Napa, CA, Celine and Urban Schrage of Salinas, CA, and Anselma and John Wright of San Antonio, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Henry was preceded in death by his: parents: John Henry and Helena Felderhoff; sister, Agnes Felderhoff; brothers: Frank, Vincent, Lawrence, Al and Leo Felderhoff.

     Pallbearers were: Brandon Felderhoff, Justin Felderhoff, Kenny Felderhoff, Tim Felderhoff, Allen Fleitman, and Steven Krebs.

     The family requests memorials be made to the Muenster Public Library.

Gene Parker

     M.E. (Gene) Parker, age 86, passed to his heavenly home Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Services will be held Friday, August 23rd, 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Saint Jo, with Rev. Tim Williams and Rev. Jeff Roe officiating. Burial will follow at Illinois Bend Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Mr. Parker died August 21, 2013.

     Gene was born October 13, 1926 at Illinois Bend to Homer C. and Eula E. Farquhar Parker. He was the youngest of three children. He was preceeded in death by his parents, brother Adrian and sister Opal Wineinger.

     Gene grew up at Illinois Bend. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. President Jackson during WWII. After the war he came home and married the love of his life, Pauline Davenport, on October 5, 1946. This special union lasted sixty-six years and they were blessed with four children.

     Gene worked hard all his life. He was a farmer, rancher, butcher, oil field worker, and county hand for Montague County for several years before he served as County Commissioner for twelve years. After retiring from the county Gene was a real estate agent and then he and Pauline carried a rural mail route to Forestburg and tended several head of cattle until their health forced them to retire. Gene loved to work the earth and tend his garden. He was a Sunday School teacher and deacon at First Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club.

     Gene is survived by his loving wife, Pauline, who was always by his side and his biggest supporter, a son Ronny and wife Wanda of Illinois Bend, daughter Lana and husband Bob of Olney, daughter Dana and husband Jerry Raymond of Saint Jo, and son Cris of Picayune, Mississippi. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Scott and Shelly Parker, Clint and Paul McQuerry, and Joe, Jack and Josh Raymond and sixteen great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.

Geraldine Dunn Young Cook

     Graveside services for Geraldine E. Cook, age 92 of Saint Jo are set for 10:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Dye Mound Cemetery. Services are officiated by CE Cole and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo. Mrs. Cook died Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Wichita Falls.

     Born March 15, 1921 in Peabody, Texas, Geraldine was a daughter of William Albert and Georgia Gladys Dunn. She was raised in the Peabody area where she attended school and helped with the farm work. She completed school in Saint Jo. After school, she was busy selling Stanley and Mary Kay products.

     Geraldine married Leon Young on June 22, 1940. They continued living in the Peabody area. She kept busy then by being a homemaker and keeping books for Leon. They were the parents of 2 sons.

     After Leon’s death on February 7, 1992, Geraldine married Coy Cook on December 7, 2000. Coy died on December 9, 2009.

     Geraldine was very active in Church of Christ activities. Her lifelong hobbies and things of interest included sewing (mainly making her own clothes), quilting and gardening. She raised vegetables in the garden for family food, but, her main interest was in growing and caring for flowers. She also, on occasion, accompanied Leon on hunting trips in Colorado. There they hunted mule deer and elk.

     Geraldine was extremely close to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them and her friends.

     Geraldine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Charles and Arlene Young, numerous grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leon Young: husband: Coy Cook; son: Bobby Young; sisters: Chancey Carlton and Jewel Edes and great grandson: Tyler Young.

Antonia Hess

     Mass of Christian Burial for Antonia Veronia Hundt Hess, age 93 of Muenster was held at 10:00 AM, July 24, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Services were officiated by Rev. Kyle Walterscheid and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. A rosary service was held at 7:00 PM July 23, 2013 at McCoy Funeral Home. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

     Mrs. Hess died at 7:50 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013 at her residence.

Born October 2, 1919 in Lindsay, TX, Antonia was the daughter of Joseph and Emelie (Flusche) Hundt. She grew up in Lindsay and attended St. Peters School. She and Alois Andrew Hess were married on October 24, 1940 in St. Peters Catholic Church in Lindsay. After being married for about 1 ½ years, Alois and Antonia purchased a farm north of Muenster. There, they farmed, raising grain, hay and always a family garden. They were busy raising hogs and milking cows along with the other farm duties, including canning vegetables and fruits and doing their own butchering just to furnish food for their family.

     While on the farm, Alois and Antonia became the parents of four daughters and 3 sons, all of which attended Sacred Heart Catholic School.

     Alois and Antonia sold the farm in 1962. They moved to Muenster then and purchased the furniture store in 1963. They operated the store until retirement, at which time they sold it to their son, Dennis. After that, they both were active in parish and community affairs as long as they were able.

     Alois and Antonia enjoyed traveling mainly to visit their children and grandchildren. Antonia was a great mother, spouse, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed!

     Antonia is survived by her daughters and spouses: Carol Ann and Robert Fitch of Oak Point, TX, Veronica and Bill Hughes of Plano, TX, Jane Frances and Roy Monday of Muenster, TX and Diane Elizabeth and Bill Reed of Salt Lake City, UT; sons and spouses: Dennis Joseph and Kathy Hess of Muenster, Alan Charles and Debbie Foreman of Corinth, TX, Myron Hess and Gail Rothe of Austin, TX; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren; brother: Joseph and Elfrieda Hundt; sisters-in-law: Mary Hundt, Mitzi Schmitt, Margie Schmitt, Teresa Hayden, and Rosina Schmidlekofer; brothers-in-law: Francis Hundt, Bill Hess and Tony Hess.

     She was preceded in death by her husband Alois Hess, sister, Clara Dieter, and brothers, Gregory and Herbert Hundt.

     Pallbearers were: Wayne Fitch, Brian Hess, Craig Monday, Nathan Hess, Jason Hess, and Payce Jacobsen.

     The family requests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.

Troy Hess

     Memorial Mass for Troy Daniel Hess, age 48 of Forestburg (formerly of Muenster) is set for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2013. A Rosary Service will precede the mass at 9:30 AM. Both the Rosary and Mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. The service is officiated by Rev. Kyle Walterscheid and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.

     Mr. Hess died at 6:10 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence.

     Born February 5, 1965 in Muenster, Troy was one of the eight children of Arthur “Archie” and Emma Lou Gehrig Hess.

     Troy was raised in Muenster where he attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1983. After graduation, he operated his father’s well-servicing (spudder) rig. He had worked in the oil field most of his life. Troy had a profound understanding of most aspects associated with the oil field industry. He, with his father’s guidance, became a proficient welder. He really enjoyed creating and building things from metal and wood. He designed and built child-size picnic tables for each of his many nieces and nephews.

     Troy enjoyed working with trees in his pastime. He often planted seeds and/or transferred seedlings from small to larger container until he decided they were ready to be permanently planted or given away. Each of his brothers, sisters and many of his relatives and friends were presented with trees that he even planted them for them. He also was gifted in tree grafting. Anything that grew fascinated him. He always had flowers and all sorts of plants, including garden vegetables.

     Troy loved his 2 acre plot in the country. There, he spent most of his spare time cleaning trees and making improvements to the land. He was very fond of his two dogs.

     Troy was a person with a great sense of humor and kept people around him laughing most of the time. He will be greatly missed!

     Survivors include his sisters: Linda Luttmer of Muenster, Donna Biffle and husband Jim of Muenster, Tammy Hess of Muskogee, Oklahoma; brothers: Brent Hess and wife Mary of Muenster and Mike Hess of Muenster.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma Lou Hess, sister Kathy Hess, brother Howard Hess.

     The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Jerry Sicking

     Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome “Jerry” Sicking, age 73 of Muenster, was held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Rosary was held at 5:30 PM followed at 6:00 PM by a Vigil on Wednesday, July 10 at the funeral home. Services were officiated by Rev. Ken Robinson and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
     Mr. Sicking died in a Dallas Hospital on Monday, July 8, 2013.
Jerry, born September 7, 1939 in Muenster, was the eldest of the 4 children of John William and Eleanor Cecilia Rohmer Sicking. The family lived on a farm south of Myra. At age 5, Jerry was operating a tractor and he continued helping his father farm until they opened a tractor business in Gainesville. Jerry continued farming part-time while being a mechanic at Sicking Tractor Co. He retired from Peterbilt after more than 20 years of working in the fabrication shop.
     Jerry had attended St. Mary’s School in Gainesville for 3 years, then Sacred Heart through the 8th grade and then completed high school at Muenster Public. He then attended night school at Cooke County College for two years.
Jerry and Evelyn Leona Flusche were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on July 16, 1966. They were the parents of two sons and a daughter.
     Jerry was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, had been an Altar Boy, member of the 49er’s Square Dance Club and was an Avon Representative for 23 years. He really enjoyed life, spending time with his family and friends. He liked collecting coins, restoring farm equipment and tinkering with the family automobile.
     Jerry also enjoyed gardening and working his booth at various trade days. He was a great family man, always being concerned with the welfare of his children and grandchildren. He displayed respect and kindness to everyone he met, and never met a stranger.
     Jerry will be greatly missed!
     Jerry is survived by his daughter: Sherilyn Sicking of Arlington, TX; sons: Michael Sicking of Waco and Darwin and wife Juliane Sicking of Durant, OK; brothers: David and wife Rose of Gainesville, and Kenneth Sicking of Myra; grandchildren: Danielle, Haylee, and Noah Sicking, Robert Scruggs, Brandi Balke, and Ashley Trieder and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn, a granddaughter, Kayla Gabrille Sicking and parents, John William and Eleanor Cecilia Rohmer Sicking and a brother Gene Sicking.

Robbie Parsons

     Memorial service for Robert Lee “Robbie” Parsons, age 57 of Gainesville were held at the McCoy Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Services were officiated by Rev. Ricky Kerr and Rev. Sam Parsons and directed by McCoy Funeral home, Saint Jo, Texas. Robbie died Friday, July 6, 2013 at his home.
     Robbie was born August 26, 1955 in Saint Jo. He was the son of David “Slim” and Frances Tuggle Parsons. He grew up and attended school, then, after graduating, obtained an associate degree in college.
     Robbie was dominate in football and had excellent skills in tennis through his high school career. He always talked about his glory days and the crazy shenanigans he and his friends got into. (Boy were there a lot.) In his older years, he became masterful poker player, and crushed willing opponents in pool. The last few years, he started having nightly poker games with all his friends. He loved his poker games, and never missed one (unless he lost the week before). All of his friends talk about how funny and smart he was, and that was certainly the truth. I can honestly say he was the smartest man I know. His sense of humor lit up the whole room, and you couldn’t help but love him. When he became a father, his whole world changed. His daughter was all he saw. She is all he ever talked about, saying how proud he was that she was his. Up until his last few days, he only said that he was not afraid to die, he was only afraid of how his baby girl would handle it. He was a selfless, giving, and caring father and he will be greatly missed.
     Robbie is survived by his: daughter, Jenny Marie Parsons of Gainesville; mother, Winnie Frances Parsons of Saint Jo; brother and wife: Sam and Karla Parsons of Shelby, N. C.; four nieces and one nephew; and very special friend: Paul Sampson of Saint Jo.
     He was preceded in death by: father, David “Slim” Parsons; grandparents: Sam Parsons, Myrtle Upshaw, Sam and Minnie Tuggle.
