Edna Mae Wade Dunn

    Graveside services for Edna Mae Wade Dunn, age 83 of Saint Jo were held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo with Rev. Sam Campbell and Rev. Larry Coleman officiating and were under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A visitation was held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
    Edna Mae Dunn went to be home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2014 in Denton, TX surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 17, 1931 in Sanger, TX to Ely Mannuel and Mary Etta Knowles Wade. She married Wilson Jack Dunn August 16, 1951. After living in West Texas where Jack worked in the oil fields they returned to Saint Jo to make their permanent home. Together they raised 3 children, Danny, Phyllis and Joanie.
    Chances are if you grew up in or around the Saint Jo area you knew who Edna Dunn was. She was known by many as Granny Edna or Miss Edna. She loved her little town of Saint Jo and all of the people in it. Edna never met stranger and never passed up an opportunity to sit and talk with anyone. Anywhere you go there was always a chance you would run into someone that knew Edna. Throughout the years she worked many jobs in her hometown that allowed her to interact with all the people of the community. She worked at the Dairy Spot, opened her own Edna’s Cafe, cooked at the Saint Jo and Muenster Nursing Home, worked at the Russell-Newman factory on the square, Dusty’s food store and The Freight Outlet. In her spare time Edna was always on the go. You could always find Edna along with her best friend Lucille Welch at any or all of the athletic events at the school. She loved going and watching her grandkids playing sports whether it be in Saint Jo, Gainesville, Walnut Bend or wherever they happen to be playing. In fact this is how she became known as “Granny Edna” to countless teenagers throughout the years. She loved her sports. While at home her activities were planned around what time the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and Stars played. When not watching sports she would jump at the opportunity to go fishing or play a good game of cards or dominoes with anyone that would go with her. These were hobbies that she has passed down to her kids, grandkids, and even great grandkids. More than any of this Edna was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend. She took great pride in her family and would brag about them to anyone that would listen. She was a very special lady and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
    Edna is survived by her: daughters: Phyllis and husband Larry Cook of Saint Jo and Joanie Mae and husband Milton Pierce of Sadler; son: Danny and wife Lori Dunn of Saint Jo; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Leon Wade, and her husband, Jack Dunn.

Claude J. Klement

    A Mass of Christian Burial for Claude J. Klement, age 60 of Muenster, is set for 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Sacred Heart Community Center with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Community Center. Mr. Klement died at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
    Claude J. Klement was born in Muenster on June 18, 1954. He was the third youngest of six children to Walter and Eleonore Henscheid Klement. Claude attended Sacred Heart School and Muenster Public School where he graduated in 1972. Claude also attended Cooke County College after his graduation from Muenster.
    On November 18, 1978, Claude married Deb Schneider in Sacred Heart Church. Claude and Deb bought their home in Muenster in 1980 where they raised their son and daughter and have continued to live.
    Claude was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also very active in the Jaycees becoming a JCI Senator. He was active with the Knights of Columbus becoming a 4th Degree Knight. Following his faith and wanting to become more active in his church, Claude became very active with A.C.T.S. Claude’s greatest love was spending time with his family. He loved riding motorcycles with Deb and friends. He loved playing with his grandchildren. He loved working on the farm with his brothers “cattlin’.”
    Claude is survived by his: wife, Deb Schneider Klement of Muenster; his son: Aaron and wife, Polly Klement of Muenster; his daughter: Ashley and husband, Jamie Baggs of Muenster; his five grandchildren: Caden Klement, Carson Klement, Kinsler Klement, Brody Baggs, and Avery Baggs all of Muenster; his sisters: Jeanette and husband Michael Fitzpatrick of Arlington, TX and Sharon Wolf of Gainesville; his brothers: Wayne and Doris Klement of Muenster, Doyle and Carla Klement of Muenster, and Mark and Carol Klement of Muenster. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Eleonore (Henscheid) Klement and his father-in-law, Ed Schneider. Pallbearers were: Don Schneider, John Schneider, Tim Schneider, Mark Klement, Doyle Klement, and Wayne Klement.

Dorothy Marion McCoy Thompson

    A memorial service for Dorothy Marion McCoy Thompson, age 85 of Saint Jo, is set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo with Rev. Larry Coleman officiating. Dorothy died early Sunday morning, July 13, 2014.

    Dorothy Marion Thompson of Saint Jo, TX was born September 29, 1928 to E.C. and Omega McCoy in Ashland, KY.

    Dorothy married Rev. George Albert Thompson, Sr. on June 9, 1953 at the Irving United Methodist Church. Their life of serving God through ministry began at Spanish Fort, TX and continued throughout many other churches in Texas. They then retired after serving Callisburg United Methodist Church to make their home in Saint Jo, TX and serve in a new capacity at Saint Jo United Methodist Church. She has been very involved in children's ministry and United Methodist Women for many years. She loved to see the love of Jesus come into the eyes of the children.

    Dorothy is survived by: her daughter, Stella and husband Randy Fowler of Sunset, TX; her sons: George A. and wife Savitra Thompson, Jr of Austin, Charles L. and wife Mary Thompson of Lexington, KY and John P. and wife Cathy Thompson of Saint Jo; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Louise Buck, Alma Tumey, and Alice Venarelle; son, Walter Thompson; and half-brother, Charles Edward McCoy.

Velda Lou Cannon

    Funeral service for Velda Lou Ayres Cannon, age 93 of Saint Jo, are scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo with Rev. Calvin Durham and Rev. Larry Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. Cannon died Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Denton, TX.
    Velda Lou Cannon died July 12, 2014. She suffered a stroke in February 2014, and for four months was cared for by the kind and caring staff on the rehab wing of Good Samaritan, Denton Village in Denton, Texas. On July 5th she suffered complications from the first stroke and from that time on was cared for by the kind nurses from Altus Hospice.
    Velda Lou was born to James Holland Ayres and Bertie Ann Ayres at Bonita, Texas on March 5, 1921.
    She married Ruel E. Cannon on May 22, 1946. They had been married 51 years when Ruel died on June 17, 1997.
    Velda Lou graduated from Bonita High School and after that graduated from Gainesville Junior College which is North Central Texas College. She went on to earn her Masters’ Degree from North Texas State Teachers College which is now the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
    Velda Lou was a much loved teacher, and the schools where she taught were Salona, Lone Star, Bonita, Spencer, Capps Corner and Saint Jo. She retired after 47 years and was enjoying teaching the year she retired as much as the year she began.
    During the summer of 2013 Velda Lou was chosen to be a duchess at the crowing of the Pioneer Queen. This was during the annual Jim Bowie Celebration in Bowie, Texas. This was a thank you for her many years of teaching in Montague County. She was given another honor at the 2013 Saint Jo school homecoming when she was inducted into the Saint Jo School Hall of Fame.
    Velda Lou was an active member of Saint Jo United Methodist Church and was always ready to help when she was called on to do so.
    Velda Lou is survived by her son, James E. Cannon and his wife Melissa, sister Vanice Gilbert, nieces Linda Stinchcomb, Nancy Hunter, Mary Hunter and husband Charles, Patsy Clayton, Rose Tatum, Carol Ann Winchester, and husband Lon, Bobbie Gail Laird and husband Mack and a host of beloved friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two very special friends, Bernice Parker and Cora Lee Grimes.
    Pallbearers were: Roy Brawner, Curtis Wells, Roger Henley, Cotton Brawner, Charles Hunter, and Ronny Parker.

Lucille Wimmer Zimmerer

     Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille “Lou” Wimmer Zimmerer, age 88 of Muenster, are set for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Community Center in Muenster with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. Zimmerer died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at her home in Muenster.
     Lucille “Lou” Wimmer Zimmerer was born September 5, 1925 in Muenster to Charlie and Annie (Seith) Wimmer. She grew up on their family farm, one of eleven children. She graduated from Sacred Heart School. Lou married Leo J. Haverkamp on October 2, 1946 in Muenster. Together they owned and operated Leo J. Haverkamp Well Service. They had one daughter, Gloria born on June 9, 1948. Leo J. passed away on January 17, 1970. Lou married Frank Zimmerer May 24, 1974. Lou was very involved with her 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, and playing cards and dominos with friends and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society, and the VFW Auxiliary.
     Lou is survived by her: daughter, Gloria and husband, Robert G. Klement of Muenster, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters: Lillian Reinart of Richardson, TX and Gracie and husband, Paul Luke of Farmers Branch, TX. She was preceded in death by her: parents, Charlie and Annie (Seith) Wimmer; husband, Leo J. Haverkamp; husband, Frank Zimmerer; sister, Hattie; her brothers: Ernest, Joe, Tony, Charlie, Lawrence, John, and Andy Wimmer; and one grandchild, Travis Klement. Pallbearers were her great-grandchildren: Toby Dyess, Tressa Jones, Kalyn Dangelmayr, Travis Dangelmayr, Lauren Rohmer, and Adrien Rohmer.

Viola Mae (Thomas) Capps

     Funeral services for Viola Mae (Thomas) Capps were held 10:00 AM, Monday, June 30, 2014 at Scott Funeral Chapel in Saint Jo. A visitation was held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. Capps died Thursday morning, June 26, 2014 in Nocona.
     Viola Mae (Thomas) Capps was born in Terral, OK on October 13, 1936. She attended Terral Public School until her graduation. Viola married George Capps in Anderson, MO in 1984. She worked and resided in Missouri and Connecticut prior to returning to Dallas, Texas in 1990. Viola was a very hard worker and lover her job at Walmart. She happily worked there until her retirement at age 68. Viola was a doting grandmother who always had an open door and snacks for grandkids and their friends. She loved attending their school activities and proudly wore her Saint Jo Panther t-shirts! She will be remembered for her dependability, hard work and sense of humor.
     Viola is preceeded in death by her parents and husband George. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Patty and David Fleitman of Saint Jo, stepdaughter, Donna Morse of Gainesville, grandchildren: Coby Fleitman of Saint Jo and Shelby Fleitman of Fort Worth. Homer Merle Bell

     Funeral service for Homer Merle Bell, age 71 of Saint Jo, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Jo with Rev. Ricky Kerr officiating. Burial will follow at the Montague Cemetery in Montague under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00—8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
     Homer M. Bell passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on June 22 in Saint Jo, TX. Homer was born on July 16, 1942 in Decatur, TX to Homer J. and Eva Mae (Schockley) Bell. After graduating from Forestburg High School in 1960, he completed one year of college at NCTC. On July 21, 1962, Homer married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Carol Landers. After 32 years at Lockheed Martin, he retired from his work as an aircraft assembler.
     Homer is survived by his wife, Linda Carol (Landers) Bell of Saint Jo; daughters: Tina Lin Bell of Saint Jo and Janell Darice and husband, David Clark of Argyle; grandchildren: Micheal and wife, Kayla Mullins of Saint Jo, Travis Benson of Saint Jo, Mason Clark of Argyle, and Bryanna Clark of Argyle; one great-grandchild, Paxton Mullins of Saint Jo; sister: Karen and husband, Ronnie Johnson of Montague; brother: Wayne and wife, Lisa Bell of Bowie. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Baby Boy Bell, his parents, and his brother, Rex Darrell Bell.
