Leonard "Spike" Yosten

     Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard “Spike” Yosten was held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil was held 6:00 PM Friday at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Ken Robinson officiating. Services were directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Mr. Yosten died on June 19, 2013 at Muenster Memorial Hospital.
     Born December 19, 1913 in Muenster, Spike was the fourth of nine children of Robert and Agnes (Swirczynski) Yosten. Spike was raised on a farm near Muenster. He attended Sacred Heart School.
     Leonard “Spike” and Frances “Girlie” were married July 27, 1942 at Sacred Heart Church. They were the parents of 2 sons and 3 daughters. Spike started work for Trumter Petroleum Corporation in 1937. He worked his way up to Assistant Superintendent in 1950, and General Superintendent in 1961, a position he held until retirement in 1985 after 47 years.
     Spike loved to travel, to tinker with motors, to garden and to play sheephead with family.
     Survivors include his daughters and sons in law: Susie and David Bullion of Austin, TX, Debbie and Stuart Bradford of Austin, TX, Diane and Jim Grewing of Muenster, TX, his sons and daughter-in-law: David Yosten of Plano, TX and John and Pat Yosten of Muenster, TX: brother: Lee Roy “Buddy” Yosten of Muenster. There are 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Girlie, parents, Robert and Agnes (Swirczynski) Yosten, 2 sisters: Angeline Reiter and Dorothy Holland; brothers: Al Yosten, Stan Yosten, Paul Yosten, Martin Yosten, and Larry Yosten; and daughter-in-law: Susie Yosten.

     Pallbearers were: Terry Yosten, Aaron Grewing, Michael Grewing, Jackson Bradford, Ted Yosten, Paula Yosten, Sam Bradford, and Shane Bullion.
