Frances Lawson Raymond

On March 6, 2014, lovingly surrounded by family and friends, it was time for mother to leave this earthly world and enter her heavenly home.
Mom was born December 9, 1922, to Katie & Virgil Lawson on the ranch in Saint Jo, Texas. She graduated high school there in 1940, attending college in Denton, Texas. During WWII, she returned home to work for the Rationing Board.
While at home, she married her sweetheart, Roscoe Raymond, on April 6, 1943. They lived a marvelous life of 42 years before he passed away in 1985. Mother continued to be actively involved in church, always the teacher and bible scholar, helping others thru her teaching and life lessons. An accomplished seamstress, she made many dresses for her daughters and granddaughters and as her mother had done, quilted baby blankets for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Mary and Coy Mosely of Saint Jo, her children, daughter Vicki and Steve McGavock of Lubbock, daughter Sheila and Sam Knipling of Sherman, son Jim and Julie Raymond of San Angelo, and son Jerry and Dana Raymond of Saint Jo, Texas. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren -and never forgot a birthday!
She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Raymond, parents Katie and Virgil Lawson, brothers J.B. and Alonzo Lawson of Saint Jo, Texas.
A Celebration of Life for her was held in the Church of Christ, Saint Jo, Texas on March 8, 2014. This world is better place for your having been here... We Love you, Mom.
The time has come for me to leave this life. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day. Paul's Second Letter to Timothy.
