Louise Catherine Walterscheid Bayer

     Mass of Christian Burial for Louise Catherine Walterscheid Bayer, age 100 of Muenster was held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil was held at 6:00 PM Friday, also at Sacred Heart. Services were officiated by Rev. Ken Robinson and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
    Mrs. Bayer died in Muenster on January 15, 2014.
     Born October 26, 1913 in Muenster, Louise was a daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Hess) Walterscheid. She was one of their nine children, six daughters and three sons. She grew up in Muenster.
     Louise and Martin were married on April 17, 1934 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. They made their home on a farm north of Muenster until purchasing the former Haverkamp farm in 1944, where they made their home until 1982, moving into their new home they built in Muenster. It’s at this place where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Louise and Martin were the parents of eight children, two daughters and six sons.
     Louise was a member of Catholic Daughters, Saint Anne’s Society, the Extension Homemaker of America and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a life-time member of Sacred Heart Parish.
     Martin and Louise enjoyed their life together. She often fed crews of 20 or more, and for weeks at a time, during the harvest. She was considered to be an outstanding cook, homemaker, seamstress, did creative fancywork and ceramics.
     Louise was a hardworking, loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed!
     Louise is survived by: her daughters: Nelda Bayer Van Meter of Dallas and Patricia Otto of Tulsa, OK; sons: Donald Bayer of Waco, Tom Bayer of Muenster, Dale Bayer of Dallas, and Bill Bayer of Muenster; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by: her husband: Martin Bayer, Sons: Ernest Charles Bayer and David Alois Bayer; sisters: Freda Dangelmayr, Gertrude Bayer, Adelaide Bayer, Olivia Wimmer, and Katie Ellison; brothers: Adolph Walterscheid, Theodore Walterscheid, and Joe Henry Walterscheid.
     Pallbearers were: Brandon Bayer, Joel Bayer, Emil Bayer, Monty Joe Bayer, Ryan Bayer, Matt Bayer, Mikey Bayer, Adam Bayer, Andy Bayer, and Scott Bayer.
     The family requests memorials be made to the Sacred Heart Trust Fund or a charity of your choice.
