Velma Frances Evers Fisher

     Mass of Christian Burial for Velma Frances Evers Fisher, age 91 of Muenster, was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2014. A rosary/vigil was held at the funeral home at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 10. Services were officiated by Rev. Ken Robinson and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
     Mrs. Fisher died at 12:50 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in her home.
     Velma was born in Umbarger on February 1, 1922. She was the daughter of Eddie J. and Anna Rose Evers. She grew up on a farm near Umbarger and later worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Amarillo, Texas and then for Henry J. Kaiser at his home office in Oakland, California. Most of Velma’s life was spent as a dedicated homemaker, a loving mother and devoted wife.
     Velma married Earl J. Fisher on February 17, 1943 in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Umbarger, Texas. They became the parents of ten children, all of which reached adulthood and attended college.
     Velma is survived by: her daughters: Joan Demshock of Baltimore, MD, Doris Fisher of Vancouver, Washington, Janice Kincy of Lindsay, Mary Carnell of Colorado Springs, and Judy Newell of Dallas; her sons: Robert of Longmont, Colorado, Gary of Muenster, Alan of Dalton, GA, Glenn of Edmond, OK; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Fisher, her daughter, Donna Fisher, her sisters, Alma Halter and Teresa Fenoglio and her brother, Al Evers.
     Pallbearers were: Karl T. Fisher, Eric J. Fisher, Michael Kincy, Mark Demshock, Steve Taylor, and Steve Fisher.
     The family requests memorials be sent to: NCTC Endowed Scholarship Fund (NCTC Foundation, 1525 W. California St., Gainesville, TX 76240).
