Sophie Mae Schad Streng

      Mass of Christian Burial for Sophie Mae Schad Streng, age 91 of Muenster, is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Sacred Heart Community Center with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A Rosary will be held 4:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home of Muenster with a Vigil to begin at 6:00 PM also at the funeral home. Mrs. Streng died Saturday, June 14, 2014.
     The youngest of eleven children of John and Sophie (Zimmerer) Schad, Mae Streng was born November 9, 1922 in Lindsay, TX. Mae attended school in Lindsay and Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, TX. On August 23, 1945, she married the love of her life, John P. Streng at St. Peter’s Church in Lindsay. They were the proud parents of two children. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1999.
     Mae made beautiful embroidery pillowcases and table scarves that she gave to her family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards and dominoes. She always looked forward to her monthly card games. Mae belonged to Sacred Heart Church, was a member of the St. Ann’s Society and the V.F.W. auxiliary.
     Mae was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed her family. She always looked forward to people dropping in to visit, if only for a moment.
     Mae is survived by her: daughter, Patsy and her husband Regi Bayer of Muenster; son: John H. and Lynda Streng of Boyd, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Schad of Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her: husband, John P. Streng, sisters: Sister Liboria Schad, Sister Alma Sophie Schad, Sister Helen Margaret Schad, and Sister Vera Schad; brothers: Sylvester Schad, O.S.B, Brother John Schad, Freddie Schad, Johnny Schad, Al Schad, and Ed Schad; and two grandchildren.
     Pallbearers were: Ronnie Bayer, Chad Bayer, Kyle Streng, Rudy Hess, Haegen Hess, Jeff McAden, Casey McAden, and Cole McAden.
