Wanda Lea Tucker Brookshire

    1938 - 2015

     Funeral service for Wanda Lea Tucker Brookshire, formerly of Saint Jo, is set for 10:00 am Saturday February 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Saint Jo, with Dr. John Hollar officiating. Burial will follow at Hardy Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday February 13, 2015 at Scott Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
     Wanda Lea Tucker Brookshire died on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at her home in Whitewright, TX. She was the loving mother of Becky Butler Woolard, Raima Scott, Stanley Tucker, Stuart Tucker, and Steven Tucker.
     Wanda Lea Tucker Brookshire was born on December 22, 1938 the daughter of Daniel Webster Harris and Sarah Ponaler Goulding in Hardy, TX. On December 22, 1954, Wanda’s 16th birthday, she married Harold R. Tucker at the Saint Jo United Methodist Church. During her working years she had a calling for the elderly and spent 20 years working as a CNA and activity director at Saint Jo Nursing Home. Her favorite things to do were reading her bible, watching Jimmy Swaggart on TV and spending time with family and friends. Wanda had a heart of giving always looking for someone to help.
     Wanda is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Becky Butler Woolard and husband Burl of Princeton, Raima Scott and spouse Nolen Phelps of Sherman; sons and daughters-in-law: Stanley and Charlene Tucker of Gainesville, and Stuart Tucker and spouse Sandy Dutton of Aubrey. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one nephew Daniel Keith Harris, and best friend and canine companion, Cheyenne.
     Wanda Lea Tucker Brookshire was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Nola Harris, husband Ted Brookshire, son Steven Tucker, brothers: Charlie and D.W. Harris and great-grandson Dakota Wade Pruitt.
     Pallbearers will be Johnny Wilkins, Bradley Wilkins, Jeffrey Tucker, Bobby Tucker, Kris Butler, and Johnny Tucker. Honorary bearers will be Curtis Scott, Kandrick Jenkins, and Jason Pruitt.
